Mekeila Cook has a PhD in Public Health and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Her previous research focused on the impact of sexual violence on HIV risk behaviors and health disparities associated with HIV risk. Mekeila is a Post-doctoral Scholar at UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs. She is currently working in the area of human trafficking, specifically commercial sexually exploited children within the juvenile justice system and their access to healthcare services. Mekeila is also a lecturer at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in the Department of Community Health Sciences. Her passion lies in research that leads to actionable change for the communities she serves.
